This is a first for I Know What I Like - not a gallery visit, not an art walk, but a short run to a Bethnal Green cornershop to see what's in store.
The brainchild of artist Lucy Sparrow, The Cornershop is the impressive result of her having sewn over 4000 items out of felt, to populate an entire newsagents with... everything a newsagents' stocks. From newspapers to beer and biscuits, cereal, bread, tea and even lasagna - Lucy has hand stitched everything in her labour-intensive project. The Cornershop raised generous amounts on Kickstarter and was also funded by Arts Council England, not to mention having received unanimously enthusiastic media coverage and support.
Join us for a fun exploration of an everyday space, transformed through felt like you've never seen it before. Everything's also for sale, with your produce of choice delivered to you after the shop closes on August 31.
